I'm back home after a great teaching trip to Asilomar, California. While visiting my folks, I appliquéd the curved border onto my new Tifaifai. In a yarn store in Chico, I discovered a wonderful variegated cotton thread by a Spanish company, Katia, that works for embroidery and sashiko. I’m using the thread to stem stitch the design on my Tifaifai border and am considering making it available on my website. I can't wait to use the variegated blue for sashiko waves!
This week, I have a group of 11 from Perth, Singapore, and Canada coming for one last at-home workshop before the summer. We are busy tuning up the studio and getting our lunch menus ready. I look forward to meeting everyone!

Specialty Hand-Dyed Fabric Kits
Hand-dyed fabric by Jan Cornish
In between workshops, I've been working on a series of Block-of-the-Month limited-edition fabric kits featuring hand-dyed fabric by yours truly! Here is a small preview of the hand-dyeing process I learned from Jan Cornish at my last workshop, as well as a peek at my design wall.
I'm midway through finalizing the first design, so expect it soon!
Asilomar Workshop
I had such a lively, creative group at Asilomar. They took sashiko and appliqué techniques and came up with fabulous unique pieces. I never crease to be amazed at how each student brings their own skills to class and creates a piece that expresses their personal vision. I come back to my own studio excited and inspired to get back to the drawing board. Thank you, everyone.
